Earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, the West Valley Animal Shelter was temporarily closed due to ongoing budget cuts. Nonetheless, Blumenfield was determined not to see the Shelter privatized or permanently closed. Partnering with Councilmember John Lee on a motion, Councilmember Blumenfield helped ensure the doors finally reopened in March 2021. Blumenfield has gone to meet with staff, see some of the pets in search of their forever homes, and see how else he can help the shelter as it reopens. All of the City’s shelters are open by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting or fostering an animal, please go to https://www.laanimalservices.com/about-adoption to learn more.
